The Bloomington Bobcats swept three victories from the Northwest Indiana Oilmen to open the weekend. As reported in the Bloomington Pantagraph:
BLOOMINGTON — Jonathan Broadbear’s two-run single capped a four-run seventh inning Friday night as the Bloomington Bobcats rallied past the Northwest Indiana Oilmen, 6-4, in Midwest Collegiate League baseball action at O’Neil Park.
Tim Smyk had two of the Bobcats’ eight hits and drove in a run. Garrett Shea scored three times for Bloomington.
Mitch Weis pitched the first seven innings and got the win, striking out six and walking two. Bubba Henry and Kody Silverthorn each pitched a scoreless inning of relief, with Silverthorn earning the save.
BLOOMINGTON — Three Bloomington pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter as the Bobcats completed a doubleheader sweep with a 2-0 victory over Northwest Indiana on Thursday night in Midwest Collegiate League action at O’Neil Park.
Addison Fugitt went 3-for-3 and scored two runs as the Bobcats won the opener, 3-2. Bloomington improved to 4-1.
Jackson Bronke and Zach Frey each threw three hitless innings in the second game before Jimmy Govern got the Oilmen’s only hit in the top of the seventh inning off Bubba Henry, who earned the save. Frey struck out six and Bronke four. Cody Rogers and Nick Mosele drove in Bloomington’s runs.
Tim Smyk struck out five in two innings of relief to earn the win for the Bobcats in the opener.
